Ok. . took some doing and I finally put together a Group Buy on the SPA Rail / Oil Pressure gauge. To purchase click here.

Since this unique gauge originated here on TDR it is TDR members that get first chance at it.

For those that are just now hearing about it and would like to know more there is a technical thread during its development and testing here.

Anyone interested in adding other matching gauges on the same order can pick out what part numbers you would like to add here.

It reads Fuel on the top channel and Oil on the bottom channel.

SPA gauges are unique in that the backlight color is changeable, the Fuel channel has a high level warning led and the Oil channel has a low level warning led.

Also each channel has an external alarm function that will drive a relay at whatever value the user selects.

For example using the external alarm function I use their EGT gauge as a cool down devise and it shuts the truck off at 300 degrees. This is just a few of the menu driven functions.

The SPA dual gauges look like this:

#ad

I set my truck up like this and have:

  • BOOST / EGT
  • FUEL / OIL - for Rail & Oil Pressure
  • FUEL / OIL - for Lift & Trans Temp

Matt, do wires have to be spliced in at the rail transducer or did Y'all come up with a plug???? Also all of the discussions pertaining to swith settings, can the average mechanic figure this stuff out???

Thanks

Included in the kit is a pig tail so that you don't have to cut the SPA harness.

For now on my truck I have soldered a straightened out paper clip to the pig tail and back probed the center wire connector on the transducer by just slipping it in there.

I will probably solder the wire to my pressure box harness that connects to the transducer. Quad had mentioned about providing connectors for those that don't use a pressure box. He makes his own and can do an overrun on production if there is a big need.

Its easy to figure out the settings, its all just menu settings using the single button supplied with the gauge. I will post the settings again on this thread. The gauge comes with a user manual that shows how to make the settings and I will get SPA to include a sheet just for this gauge.

I will try and run this group buy for 30 days but it may be much shorter due to SPA / Vendor agreements, probably only 2 weeks.

It would sure be nice if someone would make us a "Y" type harness for the factory connection and make this really simple.

That may come but likely not in the next two weeks.

Matt, email sent, I'm in.

Plug - n - Play would be nice but believe me, mounting the gauge is far more work than connecting the one wire to the transducer.

hmm... i need to think about this one... then i would want to add a press/temp for lift pressure and oil temp, then a temp/temp for water temp and ???

I have a temp/temp if you need one, I was using it as an EGT/Trans temp.

How many of y'all got that gauge hooked up? How do you like it??? I been really busy this summer and am just now getting ready to put mine in, was wonderin if you had any unforseen problems. Matt are you still around?? Does the red wire on the rail pressure loom hook to 12V, the black one to the center wire on the transducer, and the bare wire go to ground???

Still here, my rail gauge went with my truck when I sold it. On my guage I didn't get a pigtail to use. Pull the pigtail off and look at the harness plug. You should see 2 female and one male in that main harness. The female opposite of the male pin is the one to connect to the center wire on the transducer. The other 2 I did not use. From this info you should be able to decipher what color the wire is and my guess is its the black one.

Red would have been the 5v supply from the gauge that you don't need because the vehicles ECM is providing that. You could ground the bare wire if you wanted but I didn't.

SPA still sells the TDR kit!

If you do a search under my name I posted about about a month or so ago on the kit still being available and gave the contact person. I don't know how the price now compares to the group buy, but the kit is top notch and worth the money IMO. Matt also corrected my part numbers.

And no... I haven't installed it yet either!

Soon!

Well, finally got around to getting it put in and it works great. Matt, I am showing about 6800 lbs rail pressure at idle this is with no pressure box, does this sound about right. Keep in mind mine is the 04. 5 and I think they may run a little more pressure than the 03 but not positive about that.

6800 sounds a little high and it may be because you are seeing spikes on the gauge.

The gauge is super fast so you have to slow it down in the settings. I will take a look at what I used, I forgot.
