I'm on the verge of buying my guages (pyro and boost) but I need some help deciding which brand (Isspro, Dipricol or autometer) ?? and which color face, white or black. And I may get a 16cm turbo housing too. Is the one from Gomers good quality?

Steve

I am using th Autometer Sport comp model of gages. They are a close match to our stock gages.

Here is a fast link to see this model of gage. Just click on the price in the lower section. It will open another page with a pic of the gage itself.

If you want a 2 pod A pillar mount. They are out. I got the last one about 3 months go. At that time they had no idea when they were doing another run on them.

I seen to have a knack on finding the last part for some reason.

I've got dipricol boost, EGT, and Oil Temp units and am very happy with them, they are black face and high quality units. I think that with the guages that any of the three that you mentioned are high quality units. I've got a manual trans so I hooked up the trans temp to engine oil temp. I believe that all of the turbine housings come from basically the same source... . I'd check out Piers. . good prices ... and probably best support for us 1st genners... . Bush where is ya on this one.

Steve,

You're gonna love this... I have Isspro pyro, boost, and tach and love them. Black faces with white numbers.

There... doesn't that make your choice easier?

I know that all the choices you are considering are good quality, so go with what you think may look best in your truck.

I bought a complete turbo from Gomers..... It was a Holset original so it was as good as you can get anywhere. They were just sooooo much cheaper than anyplace else I contacted.

Thanks Guys!

Well I may have to toss a coin they all seem like good stuff. Which color face looks best with the factory guages. white or black?? Which one of the three is easiest to read at night, or in the daytime?? So many decisions. !!!

Steve

I went with a dash mounted 3-guage POD unit . I did'nt have to cut up the dash. I velcroed the entire bottom of the POD mount and used a wire loom inconspicuously run down the side of the dash. I also Have a dashmat that I cut out for the POD mount. . looks real good.

Hey Philip, about that discontinued a-pillar mount, are you talking about that Guage Gizmo that Geno's sells? Because that's what I was going to order.

I think I may go with Di-Pricol, boost and pyro guages(does anyone know how to say Di-Pricol)?

Steve

There are a couple of company's making the A pillar pods. Autometer is one. Thye haven't discoontinued. The just didn't know when thye would have another mfg run of them. They said it depended on demand. I used to have a link to another compnay that made them. But I lost it in a hard drive failure a while back.

I am not sure which brand Geno sells.

I'm using the Isspro's.

My feelings on the A-Pillar... ... .

Sit in someones truck that has that first. ... I found that they tend to obstruct my view somewhat (not alot) also, I found that these old eyes didn't like the refocus, plus the dash pod is still in direct line of sight with the road... again, real important when ya get a bit knarly around the edges. . ;)

Just my thoughts, your mileage may vary... :)

Steve,

Just my . 02 cents worth, I bought my gauges, Westach combo(egt / boost) & dual temp and "A" pillar mount from Geno's. I have to concur w/Bushwakr as far as the slight obstruction. It's like everything else, don't realize it's there until you need to look that way.

As you can see in my profile I have the auto transmission in mine and at 1st I was monitoring my transmission temp going in & going out using both gauges, but have since re-wired one of the temp gauges to a dbl pole dbl throw switch. This way I can monitor both the gozinda & the gozouta from the transmission on one temp gauge and monitor the oil temp at the oil filter housing on the other.

So you can see I'm monitoring 5 different items w/only 2 physical gauges.

BTW, black face w/ white #'s and green bulb.

Do what ya gotta do!Oo.

I am extremely happy with the Isspro EV gauges. Fantastic at night. I looked at all the pod and pillar mounts and was not happy with the way any of them set up. With four gauges there are very few options that keep the gauges together so I went with cups on the dash. It took me several days to get up the nerve to drill my dash but I have no regrets now.

I have found the Automeeter Z Series gauges to work quite well. They match the factory gauges, and with the green cover on the bulb, they are just a little lighter in color than stock.

Mike

I used Autometer z-series gauges and mounted them in a custom gauge consol. I really like the way that it turned out. Check out the pictures in my reader's rigs, page.

Good luck

Dan

z-series for me also dont have any complaints either, unless they dont make a 2 1/16 tach for 91. anyone know if they do or not?

Check out my album! I installed the 2 5/8 autometer diesel tach and it is almost a perfect match for the z-series. I mounted it in the factory tach location. I am pretty sure that they don't have a z-series 2 1/16 tach:(

Dan

Thanks Guys!

I went ahead and ordered Di-pricol boost and egt guages, and a Dual pod Guage Gizmo from Geno's. I may put on a 16cm exhaust housing while I have the turbo off. Does anyone know if they come with the exhaust manifold-turbo gasket?? I think I will order the housing from Gomer's (117 bucks).
