Well, I'm finally ready to order my guages and have a few questions before I do so. I've decided on the Westach combo (high pef) and trans. I have the option to go either 1/4 npt or 1/8 npt probe on both guages. For the transmission I'm going to use the test port for now. Does anyone remember which size it is? Which is better for the pyro? Thanks for your help.

Bob, thanks for the reply. By any chance is there going to be a kdp jig in Enumclaw this weekend? I just go back from a 1,000 mile trip and thought about it every time the odo clicked.

Ok. I guess I'll put out an APB on the nearest jig. So, anyone in Western Washington with a KDP jig, please let me know when it is available. Thanks again

Where on the transmission is the test port? I think there is two or three on the passenger side, which would work best? also which line is the return line? Thanks in advance. Mike

I would go with the 1/8" NPT for the EGT setup. Smaller holel to drill in the manifold and the smaller probe is supposedly quicker to respond to temp changes. Also, if you really foul up the job you get another chance when you install the 1/4" NPT setup :).

I think the test ports in the transmission are 1/8" NPT. Some folks use the forward most port on the passenger side. It is on a cylindrical part of the housing near where the fluid check tube enters. Bill K said not to use this port and he had pictures to prove it. I think the topic was something like "Don't do it this way". I think the middle port is the best one to use for a short term solution. Get the transmission line with the port built in and be done with it. You can also cut the forward cooling line out of the transmission and install a compression fitting with a "T" if you want to save a few bucks.
