I'm in the market for the exh. temp, trans. temp, and boost guages for my 03 Ram Diesel and would like to know what style, brand, and type of mounts you all recommend.

I would like to have them on the A-pillar but I didn't think that anyone was making those mounts for the 03/04's yet.

What are the options for mounting three gauges?

Anyone have any pics?

I'm also in the market for the Edge EZ but after a lot of reading past posts about it I'm wondering if it is the best aftermarket box to get?

Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If you are going to do any towing and need a trailer brake then a nice way to go would be to install a "Brake Smart" brake controller that will soon have EGT/Boost display and then put a trans temp gauge in an SRT-10 A pillar so you can keep the grab handle... . just an idea and IMO wouldn't be very readable unless you put the controller in the cubby below the HVAC controls.

I did a SPA dual gauge EGT/Trans Temp in the SRT-10 A Pillar. Boost would be nice but I like monitoring temps more plus they have warning lamps you can set to go off at whatever temp you like.

Check my readers rigs for a 3 gauge in the Diprocol set, mounted on the A-pillar. I love them there, but now would change the order they sit in. Not enough of a bother to change them though. I also have pics of the prodigy brake controller mounted where the ashtray used to be. PM me for any questions you might have.

Nice set ups

Nice set ups guys. I really like the white gauge's with the triple A-pillar mounts.

How many different companies make the triple gauge A-pillar mounts for the 04's and are some better than others?

Do you have to cut off the grab handle on the original equipment or just remove the existing stock piece?

Does anyone make a complete kit with gauge's and A-pillar mount or is it better to buy them all separately?

I've been looking all over the net but really haven't found too much on the 04's yet and I would like to make sure I get a good quality set of gauges and mount as well but I'm not too sure if there are any brands to avoid.

Thanks again for the pics and info. These forums sure help a guy out.

As far as I know, only ProParts makes it. That's what we carry. You cut the stock handle off, since you still need the clips on the back to hold it in place.

You can get everything from one place at certain companies. :)

Brake Smart

The Brake Smart controller seems to be the thing to have also.

I have a cheap Tekonsha with two adjustable wheels on either side the gives me fits every time I pull my 21ft Desert Fox toy hauler with it. I hate having to fiddle with the gain settings going from town, mountains, hwy, etc.

From what I've read they go for around $350 complete. Does that sound about right?

Anyone know of a good place to buy them from or cheaper than the company itself?

Some more questions?

Does a guy want the mechanical or electric gauges?

What temp, and boost range should the gauges read for each component on the 04 diesels?

For analog gauges, pyro's are electromechanical. Boost is mechanical, trans temp is electrical. Fuel pressure can be either - we only sell mechanical.

EGT max, pre turbo of 1250 or as hot as it got stock.

Boost, with stock turbo, end of efficiency at 30psi, end of reliability at 40psi, head gasket goes south around 50-55psi.

Trans temp, measured in the pan, 210.

Fuel pressure, nothing less than 6psi at any time.

I am not sure what pod mine is, I ordered it from DPP in Washington. The directions said to use the stock pillar and cut the handle off, using the holes from that to route the wires and lines through. If you don't use the stocker behind the new one, you will have a small gap, that will show the backs of the gauges and wiring through, if you look at the edge of the windshield from outside. I cut mine and used it behind the new pod, and I got a perfect fit, nothing shows, and no rattles. The screw provided with the pod, went in the hole and finger tightened. No prying or cussing to make it fit. I get a lot of compliments that people think its a factory install. My gauges are: Boost=mech. , Pyro=electromech. , Fuel Pressure=mech. I wired the lights for the gauges into my factory light switch, so my dimmer works for all the gauges along with the dash lights. I ma stock, so my maxes are: Boost=26 peak, 24 steady, FP=7-8, but I am measuring post filter. Last issue of TDR says the pump is 10psi, so that isn't too bad post filter. I have pulled it down to 5 at the lowest, towing or empty. Pyro=max of 1150, towing a 7800# trailer uphill. I don't think it would go any higher at heavier weights. Empty, the most I have seen anytime is 1100.
