OK. SPA guages and pillare mount are on the way. Now, I have a big question. I have bought these new guages and I want to mount the EGT thermocoupler in the exhuast manifold. Where exactly to I drill the hole. Does it go where all the cylinder come together before the turbo, or does it go into one of the manifolds coming off a certain cylinder? Also, I ordered it with the 1/8" thermocoupler, should I have ordered the 1/4" instead? What is the pro/cons between them. I thought the 1/8" would give me a bigger saftely factor for cracking from vibration? By the way, I do know I need to be careful about getting drill shavings into the exhaust.

I have the DG111 on my rig and I'm very pleased. I did the install myself.

1/8npt tap
R drill-or-21/64ths drill bit
vasoline or grease to load tap and drill bit w/ to catch shavings
Shop vac to help get shavings
small magnet to also chase shavings with
Quality punch to mark/set drill bit
PATIENCE
DRILL SLOW AND STEADY
TAP SLOW AND SHALLOW, AVOID TAPPING TOO DEEP
3M brand double stick tape for mounting the thermocouple amplifier module, mine rests on top of the lower support for the kick plate below the steering column, above the hood release toward the center of the dash.

I used antiseize on the threaded fitting for the pyrometer, as it may one day have to come out.

**One thing you won't find mention of**
If your wiring harness is assembled, it is nice to disasseble the head which attaches to the gauge, pull the wires through, then reassemble the harness. To do this you need an Extraction Tool, "Mini-Fit Jr. " I got mine from DIGI-KEY 800-344-4539 Part No. WM9918-ND, nearly $30. An unwelcome additional expense, but the result is a truly professional install.

As for locating the hole, TST has directions on their site to install their 1/4" thermocouple/EGT kit, the location they recommend seems to be the norm.

Good Luck

Max

Here is a site that gives a bit of "visual" to your question. I used this as a guide three days ago and had no problems. I did do the drill and tap with the turbo installed. I used a very strong small magnet that went into the hole to extract any shavings. I also used a shop vac to really suck anything else out. No problems at all. Only advice... take your time and no beer!! #ad

Just wanted to say thanks for the advise and for the pictures. You know what they say... a picture is worth a thousand words... OH, well. I will go ahead with it and take my time. Thanks again for the advise!!

FF1607, Don't forget to set the Thermocouple to 1000 when you finish installing. It's a menu selection and the instructions don't tell you to do that. Otherwise, you'll get an error with an incorrect reading. One other thing I did is to put a light coating of white grease on the boost electrical connections (the four pronged male connector). That seems to help with maintaining electrical continuity.
