Guardian Impact gen leaking oil.

The Guardian Impact 36lp generator in my Lance had been leaking oil since new. The repair center just contacted me and said the wrong valve cover had been put on at the factory. It was a cover from the next model up that has a breather tube my model does'nt need.



Just a fyi in case someone else has a similar problem.

If you don't punch a hole in the bottom of the oil filter for it to drain when changing the oil, you will get what looks like a leak. When removing the filter when it is full of oil, some runs over onto the air shroud and oil will drip from it for weeks. I thought I had a leak after I changed the oil on a previous Lance with a Generac Impact generator, but after taking the air shroud off, found only trapped oil spilled from removing the filter.

That's a good idea for taking the filter off. I'll try that on my first oil change.
