gutting a banks exhaust.

Has any one ever removed the muffler from a banks exhaust. does it sound good? mines about 4 years old thought maybe time for a change

My Banks muffler is in the process of gutting itself... ... only 13 months old and the front seam connecting the tube to the flat piece is leaking baddly now.



I should have just left it off and saved the $ for fuel seeing as it could go up soon. A straight pipe with muffler wrap seem like it could be a good setup for good flow and to keep the drone down.

I removed my Banks exhaust completely

And the installed a Gibson system 4" from turbo to muffler 5" from muffler to tip.

Part throttle is nice and quiet! no drone! (Quieter than the Banks)

Full throttle is quiet till rpm's reach about 2000.

At about 2500 the sound is well kinda hard to describe!

Sounds like like well very mean !!! not ear drum busting loud just MEAN.

Like someone just opened a valve and let the monster loose.

Performance from 2000 to 3000 sems to have improved.

The sound alone under full throttle is worth every penny! Oo.

Jardine 4"

I've had a 4" Jardine in my truck for five years now. Aluminized construction,no noticable drone(reg. cab) Minimal rust here in San Diego as to be expected although my buddy's stainless Banks in his 2000 Powerstroke is deteriorating badly. Good product.
