What is the distance from the upper shock mount (center of hole) to where the shock tower mounts to the spring bucket on a 3rd gen? I’m looking for the measurement on either Kore, Carli, or Lorenz shock towers

My towers are 5. 25" tall.

Good luck with making it all work together. Mega's opinion, is right on. There's a heck of alot more to it than building a tower and slapping on a Race Shock. More power to you if can nail it first time around, I didn't, neither did the other guys. There's really no rocket science to it, just a heck of alot of $ and elbow grease going through parts to land on the perfect mix.

As a word of caution, most of the Race Quality Shocks for our trucks are custom built. We use off the shelf 10. 5" travel Sway-a-Ways because they fit with out a hitch using our tower. There is no cutting or welding on the trucks coil bucket when with any of our Systems. I couldn't accomplish this and have 10" of usable travel do that with a KING or a FOX.

Happy to help were I can,

Sean

THE QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE MESUREMENT NOT WHAT YOUR STUPID OPINION IS!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW!!

Id have to agree with them though... just get a set. I originally planned on getting some 2. 25" SAW's and building my own towers before Sean came out with the 2. 25" kit. I had started building the towers... and the time involved was not worth it. Besides, I was going to end up with crappy coils, good shocks and iffy towers, at not much cheaper than Seans whole kit.

Then I decided to buy a Trophy lite... then decided not to... and now im getting a diff buggy instead of doing suspension on the truck!! haha

No where in my original post did it say any thing about me building a set of shock towers I should have made it clearer that I was looking for a measurement of all three brands so I could do a comparison for my own research. One page 42 of June issue of Peterson’s 4-wheel and off-road there is a picture of the Carli clevis that allows one to use bilstein 7100 shocks with a stock shock tower it looks like in the picture that the shock mount is lowered by 1”-2” but the kit claims that it has 10” of travel with a 10” travel shock I was thinking that the shock would bottom out before hitting the bump stop which is why I wanted the shock tower measurement to compare it with the height of my factory shock tower. Only for my own research was I requesting the information and did not need the input of other people’s opinion on what I should or should not do. Sean I appreciate the input on the towers measurement and the other information you shared please continue to give us the customer service that the other companies seem to lack when I have the $$$ in my hands I will place an order.

Ditto!!! Sean has the best customer service by far... .

Now if only he would sell me his trophy lite for cheap. :-laf

The Trophy Lite was sold last month before I got it to the first race. I broke a front A-arm way too easily, and being a spec class, I couldn't beef up the design with out disqualifying myself.

We were chasing for the Mason boys this weekend. You may want to check out their Race Truck, I'd put my name behind it. I was on the fence for a couple of weeks deciding if I was going to pick up their Prototype Pro-Runner. If we weren't racing the Polaris RZR in CORR this season we would've been racing a Mason Pro-Runner against the Trophylites. Below is the first truck the Mason's delivered to a customer a couple weeks back.

Good question.

I am also curious about this. I am currently upgrading my suspension with some Fox 2. 0 remote resevior shocks and will be using ProComps adapter for fit the through bolt shock. I have 7in springs on the way and am curious if they will fit well with 12 in travel shocks! The adapter looks to drop the mounting position a solid 2 in (have the bracket in my hand). So my question is will this put my shocks in the proper range that they need?

If the bracket makes a 2" drop and the stocker tower is about 4. 25", then my shock estimates look something like this on a truck with a 3" coil: (Don't take them for exacts because I'm being very generous)

8" Sway-a-way
8" weld top Bilstein
6-7" FOX or King with custom shafts and shortened bodies

You'll have to do your own calculations using your custom coil.

So, by going with an "adapter to stock shock tower" route you loose 20-35% travel depending on the shock, and land in the 6. 5-7. 75" usable travel range. (This is less than stock) We pull 10" of TRUE usable travel out of every single one of our Systems that uses the Sway-a-Way Shock (2. 25, or 2. 5"). We account for limit straps, so make sure you throw this into the mix when calling around. Ask what is the TRUE travel #'s front and rear with the limit straps in place and engaged. These travel #'s are something we like to showcase and display proudly on the LORENZ website. The other guys refuse to answer to them. :{

Well my Fox shocks have 12in of shaft showing while they are fully extended. Dont you want 2/3 compression and 1/3 rebound? I have had my adjustable long arms and my new shocks now for two weeks and my springs just showed up today but they were the wrong ones! They sent me 2-2. 5 in springs instead of 7in springs! So i will have to wait two more weeks for the right ones to show up! #@$%! But with the weight of the truck sitting on them shouldn't i ideally be looking for 8in of visible shaft? When everything shows up I will let you all know. I am just afraid the math might not equal out to the best performance!

Oh... also I have no limit straps or anything like that! How important are they? My truck has been airborne once or twice but mainly is abused in the mud and climbing hills!

I don't believe you have to get the entire truck airborne to need limit straps. If you have three tires firmly planted on the ground and one drops in to a pot hole and the only thing limiting the drop in your suspension is the piston inside your shock, eventually the shock will fail.

I've popped 2 front shocks while testing because I thought it'll be ok, "I'll take it easy this go around. " Use limit straps, you need them.

Those pro-runners looks sick!!! I want one!! I was originally going to go trophy lite... but then as we discussed previously, the price increase over and over just turned off. I had decided to just not do the suspension on the cummins and get a trophy lite. Since then though, Ive decided to go a little cheaper on the buggy and get one of these: Predator Motor Corporation. And that way I can save some cash and still do the suspension on the Truck. As soon as I get the X-18... im gonna be callin you up for some truck stuff.

I saw the Predator at the ORBA show 2 months ago. Super impressed with the asthetics and look of the body. The shocks are Fox knock off per the sales guy I spoke with, knock offs to the point of being able to use the fox seal. The sale guy used that as a selling point.

I'm a little afraid of were the frame is manufactured. I couldn't get a straight answer. If it was manufactured in China with China steel I would stay away from the car. Same goes for the running gear... CV's, axles, heims, pluming, electronics... you know all the little stuff. I couldn't get a straight answer were that stuff came from either. If it is all made in the states then $25K sounds like a great deal. They were $21K when I saw it at the show, though I have no idea what kind of options it had on it?
