Off Roading Moab Easter Jeep Safari 08

The motor is a ecotec from CBM motorsports. The gear box is a Wright gear box and uses an 091 VW diff in a alum housing. The CVT is a Team/Comet setup. Harnesses are simpson. Ignition is MSD.

The shocks are actually made by Vogtand. They make road race stuff, and dont list their off road crap yet. They even claim them to be fox knock-offs when I talked to them!! Not sure how another company can do that and get away with it... but I guess there are no rules in china?

The car is now 26K. He upgraded to chromoly A and trailing arms. The axles are good stuff, with 930's and chromo cages. not sure the origin. You can even get the cars with walker evans wheels and your choice of tire now.

The drawback is that the frame is made in china. I think im gonna take the risk though and see how it holds up. If nothing else, I will just copy the frame myself with DOM that I know is good. I was planning on building a buggy before the trophy lite fiasco anyhow.

I found a vid of the pro runner on you tube. It looks really nice. I like the looks FAR better than the TL. Give the mason boys my props.

No where in my original post did it say any thing about me building a set of shock towers I should have made it clearer that I was looking for a measurement of all three brands so I could do a comparison for my own research. One page 42 of June issue of Peterson's 4-wheel and off-road there is a picture of the Carli clevis that allows one to use bilstein 7100 shocks with a stock shock tower it looks like in the picture that the shock mount is lowered by 1”-2” but the kit claims that it has 10” of travel with a 10” travel shock I was thinking that the shock would bottom out before hitting the bump stop which is why I wanted the shock tower measurement to compare it with the height of my factory shock tower. Only for my own research was I requesting the information and did not need the input of other people's opinion on what I should or should not do. Sean I appreciate the input on the towers measurement and the other information you shared please continue to give us the customer service that the other companies seem to lack when I have the $$$ in my hands I will place an order.

Have you tried calling us at Carli? We actually cycled the suspension to full bump and then made our clevis so that even with the rubber bumpstop removed you would not bottom out the shock. We use a Bilstein short body 10" travel shock that does indeed get 10" of travel. We have our own special tuning to make this system one of the best riding suspension systems on the market. Actually if it wasn't for our bigger shock packages I have no doubt this would be the best riding system on the market. The editor from Peterson's was extremely impressed. Please give us a call at the shop or email us if you have any other questions regarding our product since we have been very busy at the shop and have not been able to surf the web forums... ..... Oo.
