Folks, Looking at a 2005 Ram brochure. P24, Ram 3500 "Payload and Towing" box says Max payload for a Quad cab 4X4 w/ the CTD is 4840 lbs.
I read that as meaning one can safely carry that load in the bed , minus weight of passengers, fuel, hitch weight etc - Right? Assume this is for DRW.
Then on page 26,under "Options and Group Pkg's" it states that "3500 Single Rear Wheel Group" has a 9900 lb GVWR and so if the truck weigh's about 7700lbs(think I've seen that number) that the legal bed capacity is more like 2200lbs.
Are these interpetations correct? Can the DRW 3500 carry 2X as much as the SRW setup? Is the legal carrying capacity for the SRW only 2200lbs? Lots of guys carrying well over 2X this amt with their slide-ins... .....
Trying to figure out the legal weight carrying capacity(bed and hitch) of a 3500, 4X4, QC, CTD, SB, SRW
Confused - Can't be that complicated. Since don't own a CTD YET, can't go out and look at the door jamb label.
