Archived H core changeout, I dont see the air bag module and ground strap...

Can anyone tell me what they look like? I dont see them on the right side kick panel.

I'm in the middle of doing this right now... ...

There's pretty much nothing under the pass side kick panel..... ?????????

I got issue 59? I think it is? says to disconnect the ground strap and AB module under rt side K panel.....

I wouldn't worry about it, but in my '97 single cab it was down by the shifter... in my 98's it was under the center seat.

why would you pop the airbag doing a heater core?



I did the core in my '97 and never disconnected the air bag module.



if you're that concerned, why not just disconnect the batteries?

I probibally will, but I was under the impression the bag can deploy even w the batts disconnected.

I feel so old right now. I need some liquid refreshment.

Can you even split the a/c box while it's still in the dash?

not sure, I replaced mine because my evap core was leaking... decided to do the heater core at the same time because it had a couple corrosion spots on it

Yoy can swing the dash far enough out of the way to sneak out the evap housing. The airbag modules are always in the center on Dodges,it does not have to be removed,just disconect the wiring to be able to move the dash.

I unbolted the drivers seat to get the dash to move a little more via lowering the steering column more.

I found the AB module and unplugged it. It's under the center of the dash, by the shifter (5 speed).

I also unbolted the plastic crap that's surrounding the shifter.

The box came out then, after disconnecting a few wires and vacuum hoses.

Inside the box is VERY clean for 120K miles and 10 years use. I could still see through the heater core and over 90% of the evaporator. It has a couple broken up leaves sitting at the bottom, but otherwise I'm staisfied I was doing a good job of keeping it clean. I STILL dont see where the evaporator has a leak. Dam! I sure hope the garage diagnosed this correctly.

I got the box bolted back up and sitting under the dashboard.

That vacuum line cluster in the center of the dash sure is a PITA to get too.

You really need something like Verne Troyer. Just hold him in there by his feet! You have the choice of either seeing, or feeling what youre doing, and no room for a second pair of hands. Getting the vacuum cluster back together with one hand was a challange, but I got it. #@$%!

It's now well over 90 degrees and 90% humidity. I'm done for the day.

That vacuum connector can be accessed from the seat side of the dash you don't have to go over the top to reach it

I've got a bad back. Bad like I was supposed to have surgery by now.

If I went under the dash to get to this, I'd still be there.
