Mileage Drop

Wheel Well Liner Install Question

I know the tire thing has been well talked about here, but most H. O. 's I see are running 6 speeds. Is anyone running the 48RE and running the BFG 315's. ???? What kind of power loss, RPM change and gear sets. .

Thanks

I didn't notice much of a power loss, if any. The truck still drives fine and looks awesome. The only thing I really noticed is that the transmission shifts quicker than it should when towing. I think that is a result of the tires. I could be wrong though. My fuel mileage on the other hand is terrible. I am now averaging about 11 mpg dry and 9 mpg towing. I'm not sure if that is a result of the tires though, since lots of other folks with the same tires are still getting very good mileage. I think I am going to bring it to the dealer and get it checked out, but I doubt anything will change. We'll see.

What gear sets are you guys running, and did you figure in your 9% difference in you miles driven before figuring milage???

I've got 3. 73s. The 11mpg empty was calculated with the 9%. I am dropping off the truck at the dealer tonight to get it checked out. The dealer agrees that my mileage is abnormally low compared to what they have been seeing. Hopefully it is just a bad sensor or something of the sort. I'll post the results.

No, I am pretty happy with the 3. 73s. I don't tow anything over 7500lbs, so this setup is fine for me. Besides, my last two trucks ('99 3500 and '01 2500) had 3. 54s, so the 3. 73s is a step up for me. The 3. 73 is the perfect gear in my opinion if you are not doing any serious towing. Dodge should have offered this gear ratio a long time ago. This is however the fist auto I have had in over 11 years. It has taken a little getting used to. I liked having control of each gear. But so far, no problems, and it has been nice to be able to just push the pedal and go, especially in Houston traffic.

As of now, I really do not tow over 7500 either, and when I do tow it is normally in the winter, so maybe I should go with the 3. 73 and run stockers for winter and 315's for summer, or I suppose I ran 285's on my 2000 with 3. 55's so with the 315's and 3. 73, it should be similar or better...

Thanks for the info. .

Got any pics of your ride with the 315's. .
