H.O. with auto?

A buddy at work told me he just ordered a new CTD Ram 2500 4x4 to replace his 360 gas Ram 1500. He said he needed more power to pull his 7000lb+ boat up the steep boat ramps and hauling it down to the Bay.
He said he ordered the 505ftlb H. O. motor with an automatic trans. #ad

I thought you could only get the H. O. motor with a manual, or am I wrong?
Anyway, I told him that when he gets that Cummins, he will never want a gas powered truck again.
This will make about the fifth new CTD Ram in the parking lot (at work) in the last six months... ... . LOOKIN... GOOD. . ! #ad

The last dealer told me that the only way to get the HO or six speed was together. You cannot get the HO with anything but a 6 speed, and you cannot get the 6 speed with anything but the HO. I wanted a 6 speed behind an ETC, but was told that there was no way, not even special order.

I thought the same thing, but I didn't know if anything had changed lately. I'll tell him that he might want to check back with the dealer again and make sure they are on the same page. I would hate for him to go through the waiting and then not get what he had ordered.

Dealer's been sniffin' diesel fumes. HO (ETH) available only with 6 speed (DEE).

Correct, no way you can get the HO with the auto. Either his dealer is lying to him, or he is confused.

I special ordered my last Dodge with the HO engine and the six speed and my dealer told me the same thing..... you can only get the HO engine or the six speed transmission as a package... . you can not get one or the other... . you have to buy both

Aren't they building the 2002's now. Maybe you can get the Auto and the HO in a 2002.

I don't think they will ever make an auto to the HO. I was told by a dealer the auto transmission will not hold the power of the HO cummins. HO and the 6 spd is the only transmission you can get.

Nope - can't even order a 2002 until July. Even though I had a VON for a 2001. 5 a couple of weeks ago, DC refused to schedule my 3500 - they told the dealer that 2001 production had just been cut off. #ad
I was told that I could order a 2002 in July as that's when 2002 production is supposed to begin. #ad

it might expire , oh i went 14. 79 tonite with my auto trans equipped ram , and i lifted off the throttle at 1000 ft mark and got back in it ... wwwwwwwweeeeeeeeee
