The other night on my way home I had a new HD GMC DuraMin pull up next to me. I had the passenger window cracked and heard power braking it as the other light turned yellow. I rev'd it once to let him know I was a go and then stuck it in second and off we went. I was surprised at it the way it blew the tires up in smoke. It got about 3/4s truck length on me. (My reaction time sucked and watching all the tire smoke I hit the governer in 2nd) In third I had made it almost all up and it was all over as soon as I caught 4th gear. At the next light next light we are together again and after this intersection there is a curving 4% hill may 3/4 of a mile long. This time I reacted well and smoked the tires alittle myself but it still pulled 1/2 a truck length ahead I speed shifted into 3rd and was a head alittle when I speed shifted to 4th, on this run he wasn't even close but we had started up the hill. I got it into 5th before backing off and he was 8-9 lengths back. I really wonder if he lifted but if he didn't that's sad. Ok maybe not sad but I did kind of feel bad for a second or 2 #ad

Be glad when a few more of those DM's hit the road - so far, most of these "street contests" are being lost by the GM stuff, and if they are losing on the STREETS where their biggest advantage is, they will be in DEEP trouble in the hills with a load... #ad

Gotta laugh at some of the comments the DM owners make in their group:

"Gee, I already have a whole 3000 miles on my new DM, and it hasn't broke yet... "

JEEZE, talk about low expectations! #ad

I know *I* am sure looking forward to meeting up with one in the hills with a load similar to mine...

Did you see RJC's post? ("DuraMax Tow" thread in this forum). Took a DMax and PSD and loaded them with equal 5ers and took off from a flat start. They were even until 40mph, at which point the PSD just walked away from it. Goes to show even the best transmission won't save a torqueless V8 diesel.

In all fairness, it sounds as though the GM did a great job! Look at all the hot-rod stuff drawson has under the hood, and we assume the Durapuke was stock... a stock Cummins wouldnt be in the same county as drawson in that race!

OK Bcfast that right I'm modified, but I also gave up 2 cylinders and . 7 liter of displacement. And he was making boost right at the line(Power Braking). He picked the fight with me twice. I would never go out looking for a Race #ad

I thought I was the only one that noticed that. It's like, "These will out last anything. I have 1200 miles with no problem!" #ad

Gee, I have a whole 300,000 miles on my CTD with no major problems. #ad

I wonder if anyone over there will be able to say the same about their DMs? #ad

Dee, are you sure he wasn't one of Edge's beta test trucks? There's no way a stocker would have run that well against you. I've been with Taylor when he powewr braked, at the stock level, and he didn't break 'em loose like you're describing.

Bart, I have only seen the one that they have down at thier shop, the white one do they have two trucks?

I saw another truck(DM) today in Ogden on my way home from a match that has bigger exhaust. He was heading south and me north(too Bad)

Dee, I don't think Edge owns more than one GM truck but I believe their product is probably to the point where they may be testing it on other's vehicles. They know they can't just test on 1 or 2 trucks before going to market or even determining what changes do what for that matter. They're shooting for a "conservative" 290 hp at the wheels. Edge is being conservative because they're worried about blowing up their Duramax, just like DD did their's.

When they developed the PE and EZ they truley "tortured" the Cummins and did have one $10,000 engine failure. They're still hurting over that and quit selling propane systems because of it.

The truck you ran against could also have been warmed over by the DD shop there in Ogden.

Bart, What is the DD shop in Ogden? Are you talking about Baker Diesel? It is possible that this was a warmed over DM. I did notice some exhaust smoke which I haven't seen in the three that I have driven.
