Do you know how long it takes to set up and completely inflate? I see the "one time 20 minutes" statement, but not much else.

If it's effective it's a dang good idea. Growing up in Wyoming I can't tell you how many violent hail storms I witnessed . I'll never forget watching my uncle's Cutless with less than 30k on the clock get totalled from his basement window. We started watching the storm from upstairs but when the hail got big enough to start spidering storm windows we moved due south.

I think they said something like 10 min. install which is about the same as a regular cover then plug in the fans or use their adapter and use the cig. lighter. We caught hail in Minot, made my awning look like target practice for an AK-47. Received a few minor dents in the truck that really Pissed me off as there were absolutely no damage to the body till that night. Luckily with the Driftwood paint you have to look long and hard and the right angles to see the damage. Link to their site, don't know how long the sale is and they have all the info and video's for your viewing pleasure.

A few things I can say, it is developed and made in Texas and if you watch the weather they get some pretty good storms there so development should be pretty good. They ship very fast as it says it will be here on Friday. I looked over the contents of what you get, a cig. lighter supply in case power goes out, a 4 AA battery pack that will run for one hour (maybe), some plug protectors, the pull string wand, the cover of course and the hail warning app. (that should be interesting). It appears you get quite a bit for the cost of the product especially now on sale. So i read if you should tear or get a hole in the cover you can sew it shut as it does not hold pressure as the fans keep it inflated.

Finally accumulated enough ambition to do the minor assembly and fitting to the truck. The only thing I do not care for is the cinch rope on the bottom that needs to be pulled tight up to the front tires and actually under the front end. To me a few more under straps than the two provided would work better. It takes about 4 mins for the start of protection and 6-8 for the blimp effect. To deflate there is a 4' velcro opening nack by the fans that deflate in a few minutes when opened. I think it will definately protect as the heighth was actually close to the the 12' 5ver roof. The cinch line was a little loose which made the back end raise, after deflting and re-cinching all was well.

Hell of a good idea! I would certainly have one if I lived in major hail country, such as the Mid West or Texas, etc. I've seen what Texas and Mid West hail storms can do. Entire car dealers inventories on the lot destroyed.
Great idea!

We had 10K of damage to park model roof and awning from the East Valley hail storm in Oct 2018. Backflip bed cover on RAM has about a dozen dents, but truck none. I did not put in a claim on the Backflip yet.

We were visiting the daughter and greeting the grandson into the world in Minot ND. Of course there was a hail storm which put a few dents in the truck but you really have to look to find them. Took out the AC shroud on the fifth wheel. I swore I would be ready for the truck next time. They had a sale of half price on these things so of course I ordered one. At least I can protect at least one thing.

Just an update. The cover has been on since March 22nd. Washed the truck before installing. It is now May 23rd. I have been using it as a cover as it very rarely hails here. I have peeled it back or had it completely removed at times and this is by far the best cover I have ever had. The truck is as clean as when it was washed even with all the blowing dust and rain we have had. With the fabric covers during the blowing dust and rain the truck would be completely wiped out under the cover. There is no paint marring where the fabric cover always had marring sometimes requiring a buffer and compound/polishing cream to remove. So far for $300.00 I am totally satisfied with it's performance.

The protector had it's first actual hail yesterday morning 6/29/19 at Minot Nd. Quarter size hail reported and high gusty winds. It did what it was suppose to do and protected the truck without blowing off which was one of my concerns. I have had a few people come over asking where I got it. No one asked how much as it is cheaper than the damage hail can cause.

So the hail storm was last year?

Wow, wish I'd had that a few weeks ago. I've crawled out of retirement, helping a pipeline company in Midland Tx with there project books. Driving the '95 and got hailed on 5 different times in one day. Nothing major, just aggravating dents I hope will pop with the hot sun.

Sorry to hear. If you had one you would have had to park before the hail to install, takes 10 minutes tops once you have done it a few times. They give a cigarette lighter adapter so no AC power required, or the 8 AA battery pack. I still have some damage from the hail that happened before buying the cover although with the Driftwood paint you have to know where to look and be at the right angle. Maybe you will do better but the truck spent all Summer in Phoenix and no dents disappeared from the heat. Best bet would be to find a PDR guy and pay out of pocket or check to see if insurance would cover it.

Update 8/26/19.

It sure seems to rain a lot in Minot. Just about every storm comes with hail warnings. I have only seen hail twice so far and it did not appear damaging as broken windows, dents etc. but the cover pretty much gets inflated to be on the safe side. The Wife say's it's only pea size and the response BB's are not large and I do not throw them at my truck. If I use it as just a cover with some of the down pours the bed turns into a swimming pool which may require a small bucket/container to bail some out but most of the time I can pull the cover up and let it spill over the sides. I cannot do the tail gate as that is where the 4 fans are and I do not want to flood those. The last 3 days have been a mixture of storms but the constant was the high winds. It was like 30mph constant and pretty much constant 50+mph gusts. Now the cover has gone through winds before not like this tho and no damage to it or the truck. This one really had me worried as it was 24hrs for 3 days. Today is only 10-20mph winds so an unveiling was in order to inspect. The truck was as clean as when the cover went on and no paint damage. I watched that cover getting thrashed around for 3 days and was praying the paint was still there and it came through with shining colors. This is undoubtedly the best cover I have ever owned. Another thing I found out is they sell just the cover (no fans, electrical) on their site for $190.00.
