Calling all pistol shooters....

Ins Co to cancel coverage on DUALLY!

Hail storm hit around 10:00 this morning, with hail up to the size of between a hardball and a golfball. Looks like someone took a ballpeen hammer to my truck. dents in hood, roof, both front fenders, all of the doors. Only thing not dented are the flat sides of my truck. Dented every curved metal surface. I just filed a claim with my insurance company. Any advise on what I should demand from the insurance company. Anyone have any experence with this much hail damage? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

PS Truck is black so the dents show up big time :(

Man, sorry to hear about the truck. nada.com and/or kbb.com will give you the value, but you'll have to subtract what you think the damage deducts. I do know they've come a long way with hail damage repair, but it sounds like your truck may be beyond help.

They will total the truck from what you have said. Once you have that assurance, all the goodies that mean nothing to them (ie: EZ, guages etc. ) remove them before the salvage co. picks up the truck. Generally, you come out way ahead of the game in these kind of deals... ... ... ... ... ... ..... Good Luck

I've never dealt with this but doesn't the owner get first choice if he wants to buy back the totaled rig? Probably worth more in parts for you selling or using them than the insurance co will give.

So the reason they might show it as a complete loss, is because it would cost to much to fix the dents in the hood, roof, front fenders and doors and then repaint the truck. Compared to them giving me market value for the truck and then the insurance company sells it for recovery costs? Example they pay me $27,000 less my $500 deductable and then they sell the truck for $20,000. that costs them $6,500. To fix the dents and repaint the truck would cost them say $10,000 less my $500 deductable which would equal $9,500 out of their pocket. So they save $3,000 by showing it as a complete loss. It will be interesting to see what they end up doing. If they total it, I'm going to buy a new 2002 3500 4x4 HO 6 speed. My dealer has the one I want on the lot right now. If they want to pay for the damages I will pocket the money and use it to fix the bigger dents and use the rest for additions to my truck. I don't think I can lose on this deal :D

I'm sorry to hear about the hail damage on your truck. I just got in a hail storm my self,Baseball size hail. I have already went to the insurance company and they did not total out my truck. I have a 1993 D350 Club cab. I had alot of damage:{

Just as much as yours, my front windshield even got broke...

I do wish you the best on yours though.
