Half Ton Diesel Problems?

A neighbor took his gasser Dodge in to a Dodge dealer for service and noted two trucks with the new diesels, or at least new to us here in the states, were in waiting for new engines. The dealer said Dodge is experiencing engine failures with the 1/2 ton models. Anyone else heard this? I recall at the 2014 May Madness the Cummins rep said Dodge passed on the new V-8 diesel. May have been a big mistake? I don't want to spread bad info so maybe Bob 4x4 or Sag2 can verify.

It's a fiat vm diesel. Yes a few have problems. Why?

I bought the wife a new 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 CRD. The 2.8L I-4 VM Motori engine was a great little engine in that application.

Can you elaborate on the "correct oil change procedures" ????

I have seen a couple with bearing failure but the complete engines were sent back to the Quality Engineering Center for inspection so I do not know the outcome.
