Read the last article in TDR and checked my balancer to see if I could see any rubber parts comming off and sure enough, the balancer was comming apart. Since I will be changing it out, is there anything else that I should be changing at the same time? The truck has about 72,000 miles.

I would just check anything that spins (water pump, tensioner, etc. ) to make sure it's free of any binding or noise. I'm going to have to do this soon as i read also read the article and are hearing more and more cases of this. Are you going with an OEM replacement or aftermarket?

I ordered a Fluidampr from Geno's this AM. I looked at the stock one on my truck and if it doesn't need replacing now it won't be long as I have aprox. 200,000 miles on it. I am hoping the Fluidampr lives up to its hype. I was skeptical about the Centramatics but they are every thing they claim to be. The person at Geno's who took my order has real life experience with one on his 03 and is impressed with it. I should know in about two weeks.

You can check out the other dampener post on here but to make a long story short, the Fluid Dampener made a huge difference with my truck. Smoother, less clutch/trans/eng noise and no more drone. If you install one you'll want to replace the belt at the same time because the dampener will have to come off every time you service the belt in the future ~ which for me is about once every ten years.

I think i'm in the same boat. It's not going to hurt anything, with my mileage i''m probably overdue for it anyway. I'll probably pull mine tonight and order one up in the morning.

I put a Fluidamper on my Fummins (F250 w/99 ISB) and I noticed an immediate improvement. Less vibration (maybe it was mental, who knows) and it seems to be running better.

Smoother off the line and definitely an improvement upon hard acceleration. I'm going to get one for my 04 when the time comes.

Something that I question about the FD install. . The directions say to drill and install the included pin if your going to exceed 3500 RPM. But the stock dampener already utilizes a pin that's sticking our of the crank shaft and the new FD also uses this pin. Why would you need another?

The pin that is machined on the end of the crankshaft is for alignment only and does nothing to resist torque. It is centered on the flange. The two pins you drill and install are between the bolts and help resist the increased torque when exposed to higher RPM.

I put a fluidampr on my '03 and liked it. It was the straw that broke the camels back though. I put it on and the slight horsepower increase made it able to slip my clutch. At least that is my theory. I don't know if there is any validity in 5hp putting me over the top. After my new clutch I will detune my smarty so to save my driveline. I was thinking of going with a SB Con O. I think the OFe will be too grabby. I don't need 1000ftlbs of holding power either.

Installed one on my '03 a few weeks ago. Definitely smoothed out the idle, and upshift quality, but I noticed more noise from the front of the engine. Sounds like a jingling noise at idle, and is noticeable at 50-60mph under light throttle. Almost like a tuning fork type of noise. I listened with a stethoscope and isolated it to the fluiddamper/tone ring area. Anyone else heard this? I used new pulley bolts and torqued them to spec.
