A recent left knee injury has me thinking of the future and my ability to continue driving my wonderful 6 speed. Has anyone ever seen or built a hand actuated hydrolic clutch lever?

What I am envisioning is a motorcycle style grip and clutch lever mounted on the top of the gear shift and the hydrolic tube connecting into hydrolic line to the slave cylinder beyond some sort of valve to control back feeding into the regular clutch fluid reservoir. This way the stock system could remain for other drivers (wife). I'm betting the challenge would be finding a lever with a large enough master cylinder to move enough fluid to operate the slave cylinder full stroke. Or, how bout a lever and master cylinder similar to the turning brakes on a sand rail? I figure something could be made for around $1000.

I know most would say, buy an automatic and be done, but current financial situation doesn't allow for a newer truck, especially since I just got mine where I want it.

Gary,

Sorry to hear about the knee issue. I don't have any real advise on converting to hand operated.

What about trying to set it up with the lightest possible release load at the pedal and still keep it "intact"?

This would require the input of a company that has pressure plate release load testing capabilities and possibly a tweak or two to the hydraulic system.

Check with a company that has hand controls for the handicap ? I am sure they might beable to help you in some way . I understand knee troubles over 30 surgeries on both knee's so far but I'm still walkin . That is also the reason I went to automatic trans I could push in clutch and my leg would come right back up it can't hold the pressure any more good luck with the knee man .
