I just ordered a handle from my local dodge dealer ($18. 44) and was wondering if anybody has had one or done one themselves? Are there any tricks or problems I should whatch out for? :)

Handle

Let me know how it works out. this has been the biggest bone of contention for my wife and daughter since I bought this truck. They used the handle on my '99 QC all the time since they didn't have the steering wheel to pull in by. I felt up at the headliner and thought I felt the bosses where you would attach the bolts, but haven't pulled it down yet to confirm. I would like to know the part number if you still have your receipt. Thanks

Grab handle install

Not to worry - Dodge pi$$ed me when they dropped this item--- but if you carefully lift the headliner beside the door, you should see the holes and screw points already installed. Just poke two holes for the screws and two for the bases and you' ve got the hard part done.

I spent an hour tracing a drilling templet on my '99, placed it on the '01, decided to check for wires and clearance before drilling, and lo and behold!!!!! all the work had been done.

Good luck Denny:D :D

Thanks for info

Did as you said and the mounts are there... ... ..... waiting for handle to arrive at this time, when it get's here I will post the PN and a short brief on how I did the job.

I am doing this for the same reason as stated above, Wife to short and truck to tall... ... ... ..... oh well. Most people that ride in the truck usually hold onto this handle will I'm driving anyway:eek:

Ordered running light kit today also. should have ordered with truck but was brian dead that day!!!!!

Long Bow?

Got the first part of your TDR Name but what is ADMTP?

Also please let us know how the running light kit install goes.

user name info

:p The begining is of course the AH-64 Attack Helicopter, The "A" is for the A model version of the aircraft and the "D" is for the latest model of the same type. The MTP portion is for Maintenance Test Pilot, Been flying these things since 1987 (A) and 1998 (D) and loving it. The MTP part is what makes a great job, I am currently the senior MTP in my Division and have more MP time in this aircraft than any 4 guys in my unit. If you would like more info let me know and i'll send you my e-mail.

Handle is installed !

For those that are interested ..... putting the handle in above Co-Pilot door it is very simple.

Tools that are required: Phillips screwdriver #2, A very sharp knife (or Razor), Flat tip screwdriver or putty knife.

First pull back rubber around door frame in the vacinity of handle mount area, then with flat tip or putty knife carefully pull down headliner, using one of the supplied screws insert it backwards into mounting hole and push headliner up onto screw to give a guide hole ( I did it for the guide pin area also, be careful not to push to far as you will seperate headliner fabric ) using the knife cut headliner fabric at point of screw, then using plastic mount as guide (supplied with handle kit ) trim as required to fit around plastic mount ( make sure to continually check mount hole allignment during this phase ), Install mount screws and tighten, then last but not least ... ... . install plastic covers. Piece of cake.

It took less than 10 min.

PN for handle kit is 5DZ39SL2.

Anybody ever tried to put one on the driver's side? On those rare occasions when I am flying right seat, I find its comfortable to ride with my arm up and I have thought having one on the left side would be a good place to stretch out that arm on those long road trips.
