I have been looking into this. I cant find who is building the plant. Is it CH2M Hill, or BNFL. I am under the impression that the plant is supposed to be complete by 2007, and that they may be looking for operators.

Do any of you in the Tri Cities are have any info on this?

When I lived in Eastern WA everyone called the Hanford area the gates of Hades.

It would be this even without the nuke stuff, think twice about moving there.

British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. (BNFL) had the contract for design and construction but may have subbed the actual work out to CH2M Hill as they have a lot of ongoing work there already. CH2M is the prime contractor with the responsibility for storing and retrieving waste to deliver to the vitrification plant. A bunch of companies including Lockheed Martin have their fingers in this pot. http://www.hanford.gov/hanford.cfm

Hades, LMAO

I live here and I should know, but with Hanford continually in the news do you think I pay any attention to it??

Bechtel is the contractor that is currently constructing and is expected to operate the vitrification plant. The entered into a 10-year contract. Press release: http://www.energy.gov/HQPress/releases00/decpr/pr00305.htm

From Bechtel (sorry it's in Adobe): http://www.hanford.gov/reach/viewpdf.cfm?aid=1067

Illflem, Gates of Hades?? :D LOL

Just because it never snows there doesn't mean it's the Gates of Hades, and it doesn't get over 110 degrees that often. 113 was the hottest we saw last summer. . . I think Cliff can handle it ;)

Cliff they usually carry lead vests and other lead-lined articles of clothing at Wal-Mart. They have the best prices, and often run specials on Geiger Counters too :p :p :p
