Hello folks,

I am pretty new to this board and did not find anything by searching for my problem, I assume because I do not know the correct terminology.

My transmission is shifting very slowly, although it does eventually shift (20 seconds to 2 minutes). I have had extensive problems with the APPS etc and have taken it the major Dealers in my area, they are all crooks the best I can tell. They all recommend a looking at the transmission, yet the problem is temporarily solved via the disconnection of the battery cables, etc. This makes me think it is an electrical problem. If anyone here has had similar problems I would greatly appreciate any advice as to where I should start looking. I took it to a private transmission shop and the gentleman told me he thought it was a governor pressure solenoid, not the transmission.

Any ideas?

The code he got from the Snap-on computer was something like ML1963 something about a module. Sorry, I left the information in the truck.

Thanks in advance for any responses,

Not shifting

West,

I had similar issues with my 02. The transmission shop I went to replaced the apps, but the problem came back, then they replaced the governor solenoid, again the problem came back, finally they found the wiring harness going to solenoid was bad. It has been three weeks since the harness was replaced, and have not had a hint of trouble since. The transmission shop was kind enough to refund me the money for the governor solenoid since it did not fix the problem. They also some how got the apps covered by warranty, even though I didn't take it back to the Dodge Dealership.

Thanks

Thanks for the info as I have had quite a time with electrical problems as well. Apparently a broken piece of aluminum rolled around inside and pretty well thrashed the transmission. Oh well, here's to a good rebuild.

The weird part is that disconnecting the cables seemed to help, temporarily at least.

Thanks again for the response.
