Happijac camper tie downs for 1st gen extended cab

I'm looking at Happijac CA-FU to tie down my camper in my 92 W250. The fine print, however, seems to say these are not for diesel 4x4 extended cab trucks, but I see nothing else that fits. What are you 1st genners using for camper attaching points?



I like the happijacs i have on my 2nd gen, so would like to stick with similar to make it easy to haul the camper with either truck. ( ie turnbuckles could be used on either truck)

Thanks for the link, David. I've looked at torklift products, but couldn't find where they listed them for 1st gens. That's certainly an option, however pricier.

Well, if nobody else has tried the Happijac CA-FU, I'll order a set and see how they work on a 1st gen.

I've got a set coming for less than $100. The bill for torqlift front/rear/fastguns would be over $900, and I'm afraid the "ultimate" stablelift monstrosity of a camper tiedown doohickey would get ripped off on the first trip out. YUK!

I bought my Tork Lifts used so I didn't pay that much. Actually I like the overkill monstrosity. It sure is "simple " and safe when doing it by your self, but to each their own David

I was very happy with the Happijac tie down system on my 11' 3" Lance camper, which I had for 10 years. The Happijac tie downs kept the camper secured all the way to Alaska and back.

I've been using Happijacs on AK roads for several years now. Like you, no problems.

Shadrach, sorry about the tone of my response to the stablelift. I'm sure it "works" awesome, and safe. I travel off-road with my rig, and it appears like ground clearance is seriously compromised. For some who dont leave the pavement, it may be great.

BTW, your 03 looks like an awesome setup!

I used Happi-Jac tie downs on a Ford and Torklift on a second gen Dodge truck. I use a Happi-Jac on my third gen Dodge. After using both, I prefer the Happi-Jac system, and if I purchase a fourth gen truck, I'll install a Happi-Jac tie down system on it too.

I've been using Happijacs on AK roads for several years now. Like you, no problems.

Actually I used the Happijac tie down system on my 95 and my 05 since I had my 1998 Lance camper on both trucks. I also had a thich rubber mat on both trucks. Nothing slides with a heavy rubber mat.

You expected something less than a hard time from me??:-laf



Those would ideal for dropping the slide in while on a trip. Since the electric camper jacks came out I see many more people dumping the slide in at the campsite so that they can go day tripping sans camper.



I just get a visual of ripping the whole works off while up against the curb at a fuel island or something... .

I installed the Happijac CA-FU on my 92 today. I wish the fronts fit better, i may end up taking them off and having them bent to fit better. They contact the bed corner. Install is very straightforward. I will use them with the camper next week.
