Called dealer, they are replacing my lift pump under warrantee even though truck has 102800 miles on it. Said that when trucks are that close to warrentee it is standard procedure.

Thank you to all that responded to my posts. When it is my buck I will get a Mallory pump.

Kent,
That's good to here. Some dealers are much better than others. The dealer I go to is one of those good ones.

Did yours make any weird noises before it died? I was under the hood today with key on and engine off, geez is that thing noisy.

Mine didn't sound bad, just low pressure. The mechanic told me it was something electrical that was wrong with my pump.

KENT:
You said your pump was going to be replaced under warranty - thats great - but you said you would use a Mallory pump. How is it that you are getting to choose your warranty replacement brand, or is Mallory OEM? I'm just curious as mine was just replaced under warranty at 67,000.

highland,
I believe what Kent said is his pump was replaced with an OE pump, and the next time it goes out he with personally replace it with a mallory.

I was just saying that the next time I need a pump that I would go with a Mallory pump.

The thing with my pump was that it stoped making much noise. It would only make a slight hiss.

I think the only reason it would run at all was the Inj. pump was pulling the fuel to itself.

The lift pump supplies more fuel than injection pump can use. The excess is returned to tank. This extra fuel being used to cool injection pump. Since yours was not getting the cooling excess fuel; will the injection pump be affected?

Hey Arlan,

You said your DC dealer is one of the good ones. I won't ask where you live in the Republik, but which dealership do you go to and where is it? Just wondering if it might be in my area if I ever need to take my truck in. I live near Placerville/Sacramento.

Thanks,
Tom
