Out of our hands.....

1. VBulletin is the software used for the boards.

2. VBulletin comes with a search function, the one everyone here uses.

3. We did not write VBulletin, we purchased it.

4. Because of item #3, we cannot control how it works

5. Contact www.vbulletin.com with concerns about the functionality of the search.

Thanks,

Ken

My only beef with it thusfar is the 30 second restriction between submitting search requests. When I quickly determine that the search results didn't give me what I want or want to go back and add/change search qualifiers, I don't like having to go "one-mississippi... two-mississippi... ".

Other than that, I'm impressed with its speed and give it a thumbs-up.

Works wonderfully, and much quicker. I'll take this search anyday over UBB searches. Its just "new" features etc people have to figure out how to use it properly. All part of using new software.

New search is much improved over the old one.

Server upgrade...

We're getting a server upgrade next week. The new server will go "live" a week or two after that. The 30 second restriction will then be dropped to 10 seconds (the system needs some sort of delay to stop denial of service attacks). Possibly some other changes as well at that time. :)

I used it for the first time the other evening. The first try it threw my request out because my search term was "ac vents" and ac is only two letters. Went back and modified to just "vents" and went through no problemo. Found what I was looking for too.

The use of a wild card *to fill in when using less than 4 letters, as suggested by another member solved my problem nicely. Those of us without lots of computer experience sometimes struggle with things that are SOO easy when you know how. Search feature is good know that I learned how to make it work.

Some of you might want to recosider your votes now that we can search for three-letter words!

LIfe is sweet...

Thank you, admins, for making this change!
