I was in Harbor Freight and picked up a pair of halogen lights to use for backup lights. While I was there I saw two electric horns. One single horn claimed 130+ dB. A packaged pair of horns was called Highway Blasters or something. Has anybody heard these? Are they wimps? they also had a wimpy set of air horns with the small compressor.

My experence with HF is that you rarely get a deal, most times you only get what you pay for. I've had tools from them break the first time they were used...

Years ago on my Bronco I put a VW horn, a Benz horn, and an Opel horn. All in addition to the stock horn. It was very loud and you could hear it. Didn't sound bad either.

What Bill said...

In a moment of common sense shutdown I tried the "Highway Blasters". They are louder than stock, but not by much. I did get extra volume by moving them to the front fenders lower bracket so they point down near the pavement, one on each side of the truck.

I have been spoiled by hearing a set of Hadleys at a Ramrunners meeting. I damn near wet my pants cause I didn't know someone was gonna let fly with a blast about 20 feet away. They are incredibly loud :--)

BW, don't get 'em, I put them on my truck and can you say "Cheezy"? They sound worse than stock and give your rig a wussy little car sound :(

Go for Air Horns!

I've gotten a few things at Harbor Freight and have had good luck so far, bench grinder, vise and creeper.

I totally agree. Now that I have my one Grover I want another!! :D

First I gotta get a decent setup. I've currently got them running off a 10gal. air tank in my toolbox that's taking up a hell of a lot of room!

Thinking a small tank (bigger than pancake, but not much) and a Wal-Mart compressor like "Big White Beast" has.

Ditch all those little horns, and get some TRAIN HORNS!!!!! When you are in traffic, those will freak people out!!!!!  I had some on my old Peterbilt 379, and Let me tell ya..... THEY WOULD CLEAR TRAFFIC!!!! Just a thought, and my $. 02 worth... You can find them at America's Truck Wash and Chrome Shop ... Take a look at those, and you will notice that if you are going to be spending the $$ for air horns, just get some train horns!! You will be going :D :-laf While the people around you just look in awe like :--) or maybe  Haha, well, I am outta here!!
