has anyone ever experienced a leaking hard line? i started to smell diesel and it seems my return line banjo has a very small crack in it. at least i think it's the return line. my engine was built in early 98(24 valve). this leaking banjo is right next to the inlet banjo from the filter. the line leaves the banjo and goes along the side of the engine between the filter and the block and ties into a tubing tee at the rear of the block. when i ordered the new line and gaskets the cummins guy asked if i wanted a new banjo as it has a check valve in it and for $20 i said what the heck. will i have any starting problems when i replace this line. any info/experiences would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

A friend of mine had his line crack on a hard return line running from the VP-44 to around the filter housing area. His was cracking where the banjo was formed onto the metal line. He had his pump replaced under warranty and figured the mechanics just tweaked it. He brazed his for a temporary fix until he ordered a new line.
