After removing and turning fuel pin to get faster fueling truck was very hard to start. I now need to adjust star wheel. Can this be done without removing pin and if not how do you keep pump from Air lock. Long time lurker, short time member. All I know I owe to you!!!!

Fuel Pin/Star Wheel

What fuel pin did you R&R? Why? The full fuel adjusting screw is sometimes removed to rid it of the lock collar. This should not cause a hard start.

Star wheel; it's easy. No air will enter pump. To do so, remove the top of the AFC housing.

If your referring to the tapered fuel control cone, yes you do have to remove it to gain access to star wheel.

Yes I was refering to the tapered fuel control cone, I was told that after removing said item that air enters the system. How do you prevent this or get truck started without wearing out the starter. Lots of you play with this pin whats the answer?

Air will not enter your injection pump when taking the AFC top off the injection pump. Your hard start problem is caused by something else. Are you sure the pin that rides on the concentric AFC pin is not stuck. Make sure the pin comes out freely when throttle is opened. Make sure you push the pin back in (flush) before replacing the AFC pin.

Yes you can adjust the star wheel without taking the AFC top off the inj pump.

Take the rubber off the breather (below were the boost line enters the AFC ) and remove breather. Use small flat head screw driver to adjust. Clockwise lowers starwheel for faster fuel under low boost.
