Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Hard Start and p0336 code

Hi all. This is my first post.



I have been having hard starting problems with my 2000 Quad Cab 2wd for about two months. After a drive and it sits for maybe 30 minutes it may not start again for 10 to 30 minutes. It has happened about 6 times but seems to be getting more frequent.



I found a companion code by the ignition switch method so I bit the bullet and bought an AutoEnginuity scan tool. The tool pulled a p0336 code. (CKP)



Does anyone think this can be the cause of the hard starting?



I replaced the IP and installed a Raptor 150 Lift pump (Set at 15 psi at idle) about 3 months ago and have been concerned I got a bad IP and the computer on it is malfunctioning.

crank position sensor sends signal to ecm allowing engine to start. Think you have intermittent signal causing no start.

I will install a new CKP today.

Try hot starting it with the lp unplugged. With no lp pressure.
lf it starts the vp is bad.

I changed the sensor a week ago and so for it has not happened again.



I hope the cooler weather we have been having in south Louisiana is not why I have not had a problem.



I am hesitant to call it good till about a month or two has passed without an incident.
