Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Hard start issues.

My 98 12V has always started very quickly, not so anymore. The batteries were approaching 5 years so when one tested weak, they got replaced, no change. Symptom is truck cranks slowly, it is like the batterys are weak, but obviously they are not as they are new. I am thinking replace the starter next? Everything else is normal.

I'd have the starter checked.

A starter contact kit from Geno's may fix it. Also would be better than a reman unit or a new one from China. I am still on my original one FYI.

Also make sure all connections, including grounds to engine block, are clean and tight. If you replace the starter, be sure it mounts cleanly too as that is its ground.
