My truck is having a hard start issue. I have to crank it for a while to get it to fire up. I have 20lbs of fuel pressure while cranking. It seems that the longer it sits the easier it is to start. This came about a few days ago. Before that it would barely turn over once before it fired up. Any info would be great, Thanks in advance. :)

Where is the fuel pressure gage plumbed in? Do you have 20 psi immediately when you start cranking?

EVERY time I have had a hard start issue it has been due to lack of fuel at the pump or injectors for one reason or another. So that is where I would "start" looking (no pun indended). I wouls consider your fuel system and ask "how can I have no fuel but still have 20 psi pressure on my gage?"

makes sense. I have the gauge at the regulator. In between the reg and the pump. Now it wont start at all. Checked to make sure fuel was good.

VE solenoid? Check for voltage with key on.

My VE started leaking at the bottom of the back side (next to engine block), and eventually got to the point it wouldn't start at all, even on ether. Replaced VE with reman unit and starts like it should now.

Godspeed,
Trent

It is a fresh rebuild. I see no fuel leaking but that does not mean air isnt getting in. Any tricks for checking for air leaks in at the pump. I will try to snug things up a bit tonight.
