Hey Greenleaf, little help here... ...

I "think" (therefore I'm probably wrong) you can remove the heater assembly, and the the threaded center piece will thread back up into the head far enough for the fuel filter to make contact with the bottom of the head... . but, I may be wrong..... so..... little help here guys... .

well... it seems to have been the toaster - apparantly it wasn't coming at all although I could hear the 'click', etc. It would cycle, but the voltmeter wasn't dropping, which was weird. Yesterday I replaced the battery (I needed the dry cell that was in there for my RC project), and after doing that the system is working normally now, and it fires right up. Maybe the electrical needed a 'reset', because that seems to be exactly what happened.

So, drive on.

If it continues to start normally for a while I'll be convinced it was only the toaster causing the problem.

That kinda happenend on my neighbors 1990 it didnt charge for some reason pulled the battery off for awhile and gave it a charge it was like the voltage regulator didnt kick into place , it was kinda weird . But the hard strarting in the fuel area on mine is weird its always when cold never when warm it cranks a while then fires idles slow clear its throat then runs fine

To replace the fuel heater, you'd have to have the 2 nd gen nipple. The filter with the drain and not the sensor would be any number of filters available from any number of brands. They are refered to as the water seperator WITH drain. They also offer the same filter with OUT the drain. Either way. But the OE filfter nipple won't work.

Sooo, I guess that's 94-96, right? I know '97s went to the cartridge.

The pipe nipple is 3925954 They are available as many industrial engines use this. I don't know anything about the '94-'96 stuff and what they used/when they changed this or that.

So what do you do for the stock fueline then ? since they have the plastic quick connect thing on the lift pump or are we talking about a diffent set up ? I got a 94 engine that has a spin on fuel filter but it also has the screen set up by the lift pump i have not played with it yet so im on certain its for a project truck
