Has anyone had hard starting issues related to their FASS.

Upon suggestion, and by confirming though trial and error, I have decided that it is the FASS that makes my truck extemely hard to start at times.

It will always start well for the fist start of the day and if it sits for a while, but if I just it down and want to restart a few minutes later, there have been times when I thought it was not going to start at all.

How can I fix this. I am thinking about a switch to power the FASS only after the truck has started (maybe some type Hobbs switch running off the oil pressure?)

Any suggestions?

The easy and free fix is to get someone with a smarty to let you reflash your ECM with a "STOCK" program. It will make your pump run for 1 second before start up and wont start again untill you engine starts.

hows ur vp? fass says that ( damaged internal diaphram) will cause starting issues

VP was new when FASS was installed. It is possible that it may have become damaged when my first FASS pump failed

If I remove the fuse from the FASS power supply the truck will start up just fine so if I can find a way to keep the FASS from running until the truck starts this should hopefully fix my problems. It sounds like Rebel Ram has help me get this figured out.

Thanks Rebel Ram for the tip.

I have the Airtex lp. After installing a newly rebuilt VP44 I am having hot start problems. Two rebuilder told me it was because the fuel pressures are too high during start. They say it has to be less than 6 psi. They believe the lp is coming on during start. They say that the ******* can reflash the ECM. Does anyone in Central Arkansas have a Smarty I can try to see if this will fix the problem?

I had issues with air getting into the fuel line when my truck wasn't running. If the truck was on a slope the problem was worse. All of the FASS fuel line was replaced with Biodiesel fuel line and the ends were heat shrunk and clamped as well. No more problem.
