Archived Hard starting &

Help--I have a 99 2500 CC with 104K
Last wk. for the first time it died
about 10 sec. after starting. It finally started after about 20 sec. of
grinding the starter. It's done this
about 4 times now, also it now seems
louder. HELP!!

Check your fuel pressure, sounds like a lift pump might be going south.

My guess would be a VP 44 going bad. Mine had the same symptoms when the VP gave out.

I hate to say it, but I am with wyosteve. My 99 did the same thing. Then I got in the truck and it started right up, drove about 5 miles, pushed in the cluch and the engine died. That was the end of that. I had replaced the lift pump about 24,000 miles before that and I think that helped the VP to it's death. I was very lucky that it did this at 95,779 miles.



Have you replaced your lift pump or had the presure checked on it?
