I have a 2000 and I am having problem with hard starts, but they only happen when the outside temp is above 85 or so. this problem started to show itself after I put the FASS on but I intalled that during the winter. does any one know how to fix the problem?

I have also been having a problem with my truck throwing 1693 code and getting overly responsive on the throttle but it won't let me go over 1500 rpms. the problem stopped when i took off my VA fueling box, is there a way to check the box for shorts or is it just not playing nicely with my ecm?

See if your truck will start up, if you unplug the FASS. If it does, an oil pressure switch wired to control the FASS start up will work. Most everyone on here will tell you your VP is dying. My truck also started this right after the FASS install. My VP isn't that old, less than 6,000 miles. My old pusher setup had 30psi and the new FASS has 18psi. I'm not sure why it starts hard now, but it isn't increased pressure in my case. I don't know if my VP is croaking or not, but I do know it started and ran fine with my 30psi setup and exhibited the hard "hot" start condition the same day I put the FASS on. I wish I knew for sure what caused the change.

The VP doesn't really like pressures over about 15-17 psi. I think Cummins recommends 14psi. It is surprising that you didn't get hard starts with 30psi, thats pretty high. The only thing I could think, barring a dieing VP, would be that going to suck a high pressure did some damage internally and the lower pressure just made it worse. Kinda the same thing as if you have a dead LP and the VP starts acting funny, then you put a new LP on and the VP gets worse even though its getting fuel again.

I too have started to experience a "hard start" right after installing my FASS. I've been watching my pressure gauge and as soon as I pump up to 16 lbs after turning on the key on it drops back to 0 psi. If I bump my starter and let the pressure return, my truck fires right away.

Any insights anyone?
