My steering is VERY hard after just changing out my steering box, is this normal? Alot of fluid was lost during this swap and I think I remember raeding a post where someone said I'd have to cycle the steering a bit, how long is a "bit"? Thanks for any help guys.

Air in system or adjustment screw for worm gear too tight. You can eliminate the air by jacking up FE and cycling the steering wheel left to right. The adjustment screw is also easy, just turn in till it bottoms out(not tight) and back it out 270 degrees. This will give a good starting place for adjustment. Hope this helps. Mike

I was going to say the same thing. Did you purge the air out of the system? When I did mine I jacked up the front end and without starting the truck turned the steering wheel back and forth lock to lock about 30 times. Then I topped off the the fluid and everything was good to go. What steering box did you end up buying? If it is a new box, it shouldn't need any adjustment. I would guess there is still air in the system. -Glen

the directions I got with my hydraboost unit said to turn the wheel back and forth a few times and looking for foaming... if any foaming was visible in the resovoir, shut 'er down for an hour and come back and repeat the process.

Everything seems okay now, I did the cycle thing with front end on jacks and engine off, seemed to do the trick. Thanks for the help guys I really apreciate it!
