Archived Hard time starting after already running

2001, 2500 64000 miles will have a hard time starting after it has been running. for ex. go into store for someting quick. Turns over won't fire. Starts after first or second try. please help

do you have gauges ?if so what p. s. i. at idle and wot. if you dont have gauges get the pressure checked. could be lift pump. check the wire plug at the lift pump clean connection wth contact cleaner. apply some silacone grease. dealers now checking fuel flow rather than pressure. old standard was 10 p. s. i. at wot. and should be 13 or 14 at idle. if truck has been running with low pressure for some time the vp-44 could be shot. did you check for codes by cycling the key on- off 3 times without starting the engine. should show up in the odometer window. good luck.
