I saw a fuel tank vent mod that would allow you to truly top off your fuel tank rather than trickle the last 4-5 gallons in at a ridiculously slow rate in order to get it full. Has anybody done this mod or have any other options to top off my fuel tank? Yesterday it was sunny and I wasn't in a rush so I decided to fill the tank to the point I could see it at the bottom of the fill tube. I waited till the pump stopped and verified the fuel gauge read full then started filling it up slowly and letting the foam settle. It took almost 5 gallons before it got to where I could see the fuel in the fill tube. I had another 250 miles to go so I wasnt worried about it venting, just wanted to see how much more fuel it would take.

Also, how much fuel do you estimate you have left in your tank once your fuel light comes on?

On my former 03 2500 QC 4X4 SB with 34 gallon tank had 4 to 5 gallons as I recall left when fuel light came on. We seldom let it though as my wife and kids were informed to fill up at 1/4 tank. I installed a Draw Straw II, as I recall, but can't remember issues completely filling it up.

Hope this helps some.

I did the mod. Works great.

I put the Fleece in tank pump in and performed the fuel mod while I was at it. I got the kit from GDP. It has taken me a little bit to retrain my self to fill it until one click and stop. If you go past one click then you will discharge it all over the ground. I don't let the wife pump the fuel as she could be an Olympic fuel pump clicker.
Something to note, If you do this mod and fill up then park on a steep driveway you might get some overflow as it really fills to the neck.
I also threw some 3/8 tubing on my rollover valves along with some cheap fuel filters to help keep debris from entering the tank.
