Well. . after all the troubles with the burnt up fuel heater and the truck catching fire... . i thought it was fixed. . but this morning when i fired up the truck it sputtered for a while like there was air in the system... checked the return line,,it was fine. .

I did notice leaking fuel under the lift pump area,,,,i tightened up the mounting bolts and it seems to have helped...

I did burst a fuel filter last week. .

Can the lift pump get pressures high enough to cause this. .

Note: i also removed to fuel heater element and put the strainer bowl directly to the housing... . could that do anything bad??

Thanks

Ok leaky lift pumps usually mean to replace them. They have ck. valves that go bad, could be sticking causing excessive pressure etc.

It could also be the overflow valve stuck shut, the pressure has to go somewhere.

Add return line restriction back to the tank as a culprit too. What are the fuel psi's? at idle, 2500 rpms (no load).

You can eliminate the fuel heater, but I trust you'll replace the components that caught fire, especially in cold climates.

Good luck

Andy
