2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Rusted brake line replacement

I just replace my steering box and steering shaft with borgeson products. The damper is also new. I bleed the power steering line by moving the steering wheel side to side with wheels off the ground and the engine running. The steering is very easy to turn with the wheels off the ground. When I put the tires on the ground and try steering when applying the brakes at low speeds I lose power steering. (Still haven't had the alinement done) My truck is a 2000 quad cab 4x4 2500 automatic 162000 miles. Any help???

HMM… you said steering is easy except when braking? (even steering with wheels to ground. ) I would wonder if you now have an issue with the hydroboost. It functions in part like a priority valve on a tractor hydralic—providing pressure first to the brakes (itself) and then to the steering gear. A fault in the unit could perhaps produce your signs. Alternatively if a filter screen on the steering pump were blocked then enough flow wouldn't be delivered to meet both demands simultaneously. Just some thoughts…

I have found that every time I change power steering oil it takes forever to get all the air out. If you don't shut the truck off several times and let the foam dissipate out of the reservoir oil it will just continue to pump that air back into the system.
