Hard wired cellphone charger?

Anybody here bought/installed/made themeselves a hardwired, built in cellphone charger that is concealed insde the dash? I hate having the regular charger dangling out of the cigarette lighter. I was thinking hiding the 12v to 3v converter underneath the dash and then running the end that plugs into the phone into an accessable but hidden location. Maybe the ashtray or the overhead console sunglasses holder. Any ideas?

Mine is wired into the power seat pos&neg, the cord goes though a small hole into the center console. #ad
It is on all the time but has never run the batteries down, if you park for more than a month you may want to disconnect it.

I used the regular car charger from the phone that plugs into the cigarette lighter and wired it into the overhead maplights because I always clip my phone on the visor. If you do this, you must remember to hard wire it with all the goodies in the little piece that plugs in the cigarette lighter... I think they do something! (i. e. dont just cut the plug off the end and wire it up)
