I'm switching to full synthetic. Not for longer drain intervals but strictly for added protection. Those with high powered trucks, what weight oil would you run, 5w40 or 15w40?
i run amsoil 15w-40 in my truck. and i probably drive my truck harder than anyone you have ever met. it has 54,000 miles on it now and still runs like a top.
Just keep in mind that the 5W40 Amsoil is the CJ-4. Amsoil reccomends long oil drains based on oil samplings. The CJ oils do not normally have as much detergent.
I run schaffers 7000 15w40 in my 07 I pull big loads with it and we use the oil in all the equipment I have 3 ford diesels that all have schaffers in them. I have a JD tractor that has over 12k hrs on it never been opened up.
06 - 92,000 miles. I ve ran Amsoil, Rotella, Rotella Syn. , Castrol tection, Delo, and may even olive oil, I cant remember. I decided to stick with Lucas 15-40 and run it 5,000-6,000 miles.
