Diesel in a Jeep CJ7?

IS THERE A DISCUSSION FORUM FOR MACK TRUCKS ON THE WEB ?

I stopped at a Speedway tonight that I have been using for several months (truck pumps)and I was told they were for commercial fuel only. Not one truck in sight like every stop that I have been there and the one isle with car lanes that has diesel pump was backed up. Sorry for the long post I just needed to vent. By the way I went elsewhere to buy fuel. Does anyone know a link to Speedway so I can vent to them?

My experience is that some stations let you fill at the truck pumps others don't, there is most always a sign. Most times the reason is that it is lower priced commercial fuel.

I would just simply never go back there. #ad
I've never felt the need to beg someone to let me do business with them. If they don't want it, someone else down the road will. Now, I could see if there were trucks lining up and you were blocking the pumps. If the car lanes are backed up and there's no trucks around, I use the big truck pumps without batting an eye. Granted, I just fuel up, pay and get moved. I don't hang out shopping for slurpies or anything #ad
Maybe they're afraid they'll have pickups taking over the truck lanes #ad
They won't have to worry about that happening with that attitude.

www.speedway.com I fuel there when I need to. But only if Flying hook or williams is not around. They called the police on me once for trying to fuel there. But since I had a 40 ft long trailer the cop told them to just let me fuel up. Got so pizzed off I only bought $ 1. 85 worth and went across the street. And this was in Ohio as well. I thought only cops hated truckers. But speedway is for the birds. I got a writted sorry note from the VP along with a $50. 00 fuel voucher 4 weeks later. My trucks are all DOT registered and have all markings. <Mike

If you have the space, use one of these.

They will deliver the fuel to you instead of the other way around.

Koa man, looks like a placard for used oil. Where you live, they charge for pick up on disposable used oil ? Here we are getting $. 25 a gal for pick ups only to be cooked down and used on road const. Inquiring mind wants to know. Mike

David/Mike,
That is a 300 gal. diesel tank. It has a battery powered pump with gallon meter and auto shut-off handle. The placard on it just says flammable liquid. Just had it filled this week and price actually went down!! Red cost me $1. 45 a gallon on the previous fill and this time it was "only" $1. 36. Of course I would never run red on the road.

Nothing beats the convienence of filling at home.

Aloha Koa Man, Do you have a full shot of that bumper that you can post? Who's is that?

Statland,
I have a photo of the whole truck on the Exhaust Photos thread in the Products forum. Should be easy to find since the last post was a couple of days ago, unless someone posted on it more recently. The bumper is just a one of a kind made by the same welder who did the aluminum box and toolboxes, to imitate a ProZap. He charged me $500 to remove the old bumper, make and install the new one.

BTW David/Mike, I forgot to answer your question about oil disposal. I don't know anything about it since I always dispose of my own waste oil by pouring it over wood chips, bagging it, and letting the City refuse dept. take it to H-Power (the City's trash to energy plant)to burn for fuel. There is no charge for trash pickup here.

Anyone intent on putting a fuel tank at home may want to look into buying one with safeguards against spillage. Tanks are available with double walls or with dikes around them. May be other styles as well. This will add to the cost of course but may be cheaper in the long run.

Mike Hurd,

It costs us $0. 20 per gallon for waste oil pickup. They picked up 250 gallons last week. We dump our used gear lube, hydraulic, and engine oil all together in the same tank. One of the waste oil truck drivers said it is used to fire asphalt plants and used as bunker oil for ships at sea.

I'm loyal to my local Mobil Truck stop, they only have the twin head(commercial) diesel fuel depots. Even other truck stops I've been to, I've yet to see seperate prices for the big rigs and four wheelers, let alone a sign that said "commercial only"?

I have seen "tax exempt only" for the red stuff at a place or two.

Just tell 'em you drive for "F. U. Co. ". LOL

Maybe a regional thing relative to your state's tax laws on fuel. In Texas here.

Sorry to hear about the hassles.

Max

Not if they did not want to lose my business.

Yep. Pilot. So the next time I had my 36' trailer hooked up I put it crossways in their little car parking lot and took my sweet time in the store.

Revenge is sweet.

Moving to general diesel...

I have never been refused a fill at a truck stop. I moved from Seattle area to Minnesota at Christmas and all the truck stops I hit welcomed my credit card and 25-30 gallon squirt in the tank.

The best diesel in town (AMPRIDE) only has it in the trucker islands and never a problem filling. Last fill-up was at Stamart Truck Stop in ND. They don't have diesel pumps in the auto islands so I have to use a fire hose in the trucker side. ONly grief I ever got was from one of the gals working inside coming on the PA and saying "Don't get run over by one of the semis out there".

Sure enjoy filling these days. Paid $1. 359 which is down from the $1. 599 - 1. 659 it ran most of the winter. (Never thought I'd be glad to see $1. 359 fuel prices!)

Most of the places I see in these parts and surrounding states, the big rig fueling islands all have phones. You have to call to get them to "authorize" the pump...
I can't do that, so it's either wait for Pops in his Cadillac to pay up and move from where he's blocking 3 whole fuel islands including the one with the good green handle, or go to the big rig area, and have to hike inside TWICE, before and after fueling. Tried that once, the barefoot, pregnant girl with 6 tattoos and a cigarette dangling from her lips, behind the counter told me the pump would only work if I picked up the phone and called it in.
Barely made it to the next place on fumes...
Only person in my lifetime with a cigarette stuck in their face that I was able to lipread.
