Has anyone converted a nv241 to a nv241hd?

what's the weight?

Maybe there is some one out there that has some experience:

I'm still considering using a 205 for my scout 4bta project and want to look at some lighter weight options including the nv241/241hd conversion possibility...

has anyone out there taken the guts from the heavy duty version and machined the case on the light duty drivers side drop version to use the 29 spline input? I want to keep the getrag and not convert to a nv4500 23 spline. . thanks in advance

Different spline's for 241's

I was looking into modifying a 241 H. D. and J. B. Conversions offered some good insight on the project. I talked to one of the tech's ( can not remember his name, sorry ) and learned an awful lot.

I was told that a lot of N. V. G. cases will interchange the input gear. It might be possible to use a different splined input in other cases. You might not have to get anything machined.

I would look at as many manuals on 241's as possible and see the design of the planetary gears w/the input gear to figure it out. Good luck,Thomas

Thomas:

thanks for your insight! I'm considering buying two input sleeves one with the 29 and one with the 23 spline and cutting them in half on the lathe and then weld the two sleeves together... .

if anyone out there has a diesel 242 or 242hd tranfer case please give me a spline count thanks... ... ray
