Not a Van Aaken, but an EZ and a TST failed for me. When the EZ failed it was as if I was shutting the key on and off in quick succession, the engine would die and start rapidly while travelling at hiway speeds. The TST caused excessive timing rattle, really loud.

When Van Aaken went out of business, Richard/Owner of Glacier Diesel Power bought out all their remaining stock. That's been a few years back, but he may be able to help you.

Thanks guys. I really don't think mine is failing, but I've been getting a miss or stumble that comes and goes. It's not a particular cylinder, but seems to effect them all. No power loss, and mainly noticeable at idle. I ran some injector cleaner through her and it seems to have cleared up, so that may be all it takes.

I tend gas wells all day, so am stop and go and idling a lot at the wells while I take readings and make adjustments, etc. , so I am thinking the injector tips may be getting carboned up and affecting the pattern. The truck always seems to run really really good after a longer trip, especially if pulling a trailer.

I wanted to see if anyone had a failure with their van Aaken, to to see if their symptoms were anything like this. I bought mine within weeks of buying my truck new in 03 and it has worked flawlessly ever since.

Thanks,
Blake

Never had that problem on my 5. 9. Just had my 6. 7 start missing at highway speeds. The dealership replaced the throttle body and EGR valve and that fixed it.

Try running some Stanadyne thru yours and tow a good load. That will usually help clear it up. The engine needs to be worked hard every once in a while.
