I don't like the feeling I have about his one... . Twice now (a few days apart) I have experienced a momentary "cut-out" of the engine when accelerating away from a light.
It last for a fraction of a second but it has scared the crap out of me both times. Engine is running great in every other respect.
From some past posts I'm sure it is something with the TPS, ECU, CIA, FBI, or some other electronic component on this beast.
Any thoughts?

I have had the same thing happen as well as a lot of other people on here. Mine didn't do it till I started bombing so I figure it could be something electronic. But I am just guessing like everyone else.

i would start with the Camshaft Position Sensor, the reason why is if it flacked out the ecm wouldnt know what to do, and they have been failing in a limited number of cases. just a place to start. you might put a scan tool on it and run it while monitoring the sensor.
since this is in the 24v section and i didnt look at your signature, i am assumming it is a 24v'er if not then do the same for the Crankshaft sensor.

Ten Bucks the code that would show will be p0500 = lost communications with Vehicle Speed Sensor. Happened to me one a month and the last two times I checked the code and found this p-code. Allmost like leaving a light and 300 feet later (or howmany) it's like someone reaced over and switched the key off and on realy quick.
cycle the key from off to on 3 times ending in the on position and see what comes up in the mileage window.

Tool Man Tim,
You described the problem to a "T". It was exactly like somebody ran over and switched it off then back on in a split second about 100 ft. from the light!
I can't make my machine give up any codes throug the 3 times off and on trick. Does anybody know what the procedure is to get a 1999 year truck to display it's fault codes in the odometer window?
Thanks everybody, this site is awesome for the mechanically caring and curious of their beast!

Mine did the same thing until I got my ECM reflashed at the dealer. There is a TSB for it but I'm too lazy to go out tonight and look under the hood where the TSB # is recorded, sorry.

Mine has done this since about a month after I got it. It's been doing it for nearly 30K. It has never shown any codes, and I do not have anything positive to say about any of the times that the dealers have reflashed the computer in my truck. My advice is to leave it alone until it breaks, then the real problem will be easy to find.
