Competition OK Pulling Tips and Info

Off Roading Superlift 4" lift

Maybe this is old news but I have not read anything on here about this and a search found nothing.

This is a cool project:

I don't care if you are a sled puller, drag racer, Chevy, Ford, or Dodge fan you have to admit there is something cool about the whole package.

A couple things I found interesting were the custom Bosch fuel system and a 5000RPM redline.

Banks has the ability to build it, will NASCAR Truck series accept it. If I'm not mistaken, some of the tracks run restrictor plates.

I would like to see the project in action though. Imagine the acceleration of an off corner diesel at 3500 rpm with boost at 70 psi! :) Mike

The banks duramax program is not intended to run NASCAR but endurance racing like 24 hour type. I went in Feb. to look at what they were doing and talk to Gale . the motor is going to be a neat piece , and make some great upper RPM power , like 6000 + I came home and eminently had G. M send me a engine kit . This motor looks more like a Chevy race motor in side then most gas motors . lifters look like Jessel stuff, the crank is drilled on the rod throws . the rods are a weak part above 800 hp, but easily fixed. I was sick to have to go back to work on my Cummins tractor motor.

Blasphemer!

Thats funny stuff.

Mr. Banks has more $$ then he knows what to do with. It looks like he is going after the Ricer crowd calling it his "Type-R".

Anyone still have that shirt that said "Type-R as in retard" laying around?

I wish him luck because its diesel and all, but that is about as far from a diesel truck you can get and have it still be diesel.

I bet the boys over on the GM page drool at all those pictures just like we used to drool on the sidewinder pics.

I have the "Torque My anit-drug" and "Your car is neither fast nor ferious" from anti-rice.com..... I wear these shirts out when I go racing with my truck or jeep.

When I win a race (typicaly I do) and go for the friendly hand shake, they get one last ego buster when they read my shirts :)

except I started with G. M. performance parts in my racing carrier , and have friends in GM another thing is the Duramax motor is 400 lbs lighter

Whoop-tee-doo! If GM is so great, then why are you racing with a Dodge/Cummins? oh yeah, and lighter isn't always better.

Cummins tractor motor!! Thats great :-laf ! Thats the best thing I've ever seen Comp write. Sounds like the stuff GM and Ford was saying in 89 when Dodge put a industrial rated tractor motor in a pickup, they all cried foul :-laf . Now look where we're at. I love my Cummins tractor motor!! :D

You oughta go visit your new Dmax friends at thedieselplace.com

You beat me to it. Maybe he'll even become a resident professor over there. Leave us "little diesel event" lovin' tractor motor types alone. They'll love hearing all about that solid 9 sec. pass! :-laf With a tractor motor no less!

They would get a kick out of you... ...

Prolly just kick the hell out of em. ;) :-laf :-laf

Back to the thread... That thing whoops tail! The engine placement should make that thing handle like its on rails. Should pull out of corners like mad. Maybe it could hit the drifting circuit for a while, just for fun? Lay the smack down.

We'll see how well its recieved in the road racing community. I can only imagine the protests if it places well.

Comp461,

Nice fishin'. Looks like plenty took the bait. ;)

I'm not so sure he was fishing. He's been looking to jump over on the Duramax bandwagon for awhile. And he thinks kinda highly of himself and his opinions. I just don't understand why he would brag about his Dodge/Cummins being the "quickest" in one breath, then tell everybody how much of a "tractor motor" it is in the next.

I don't mean to slam the guy, it's just frustrating to listen to so many contradictions

I take tractor motor as a compliment. That is what I was after. The fact is that is what most of us want. A simple tough powerful no games diesel. The fact that there are Cummins 5. 9's ruling the drag strip and tractor pulls is aesome and amazing at the same time. It won't last forever and when a Dmax does take the top spot... ... I won't care one bit, cuz I'll still have my tractor motor ;) Those F and C brand guys have diesel envy. The motors they run use diesel fuel but are not diesels in the tried and true traditional way. There is only one real diesel engine still being used in pickups today  I am afraid emissions regulations etc. will kill it off eventually... . but until then we got asphalt to tear up with awe inspiring brute force.

they do run the 5. 9 in a tractor a case 2096 to be exact. i think the only problem with the v-8 diesel is keeping the heads on

Chevy (ISUZU) will get ahead on the inline for a little while and then we'll end up with the cummins v8 or the mercedes.

What were the power specs on the cummins platforms anyway, close to 300hp from the v6 and somewhere mid 400hp in the v8? And setting the EPA standards while doing it.

Talk duramax all you want. Dollar for Dollar a duramax won't outpull or outrun a cummins motor. Even if the engine build is ole grandad's.
