Hi. I see in the new TDR an article on this AlphaOBD app and use of OBDII plug to connect to our truck brain. I’m wondering if anyone has tried it. I’d like to force Regeneration of exhaust when going on long drives and turn off EGR down the road if I don’t trade it for a 6.7L diesel or a 3.7L gasser. I haven’t seen a REGEN since the AEM upgrade in May. I don’t trust the MSD VVT technology that shuts off your engine at lights and cylinders when driving that the 5.7 is hung with. More electronic crap to fail and leave you stranded. I can’t imagine my dealer smart enough to replace my EGR unit on the recall VB1. They can’t get anything right. Im so frustrated by FCA and dealership. Okay enough ranting, what can AlphaOBD tool do for me.
Thanks again, Herb

I have yet to be able to force a regen, and turning off the EGR is not an option without a programmer.

That being said I really like AlfaOBD for what it can do.

I know they’re different but thought they came as a set.
Not to my knowledge.
MDS is standard for more then a decade now in all Light Duty applications of the HEMI and works perfect, they had some minor teething problems in the early years but now it's ripened and trouble free.
And depending from usage it safes quite some fuel, 2-3mpg without changing your driving habits.

Only downside - don't install an aftermarket exhaust, it will sound terrible.
And thats the point that all complain about it...

It's a great diagnostic app. I performed a stationary desoot with my 14 CTD, I don't see a reason why you wouldn't be able to with a newer Eco.
