GM Oil Consumption

What is BUSH Doing???????

aluminum dissapates heat better than iron. From what I gathered in my breif reading on the motor it runs a hair bit hotter than us. They need to do breathing upgrades almost immediately to keep the egts controllable. Not a bad place to start anyways.

Must still be aluminum , GM is advertising that if you bring in empty beer cans from 10 cases that you can get 5% off a new Dura-maxi-pad, this will bring the price down to around 45K :D

cheers, Kevin

The DMax has proven itself reliable... I work on a lot of different diesels, and seen very few problems with the DMax. The 6L PSD is another story.....

aluminum head technology has come along way. but i still dont want them on my cummins. cast iron is just to reliable and that is why people buy a diesel right. plus you pay for those alum heads 45k

Those posting about the price of the GM, have you looked at the price of the Dodge? I don't see one costing anymore than the other.

Rice eaters (izusu) build pretty good engines. I knew they would and will hold up. Gm finally got a good diesel engine.

I noticed that GM gets about $2500 for the Allison auto and that tends to jack the price up over the Dodge a lot. Also GM is more if you compare their crew cab to our Quad cab.

New model year on the Dodge. Give it another 4 months and the price will either drop, or become extremely negotiable.

I searched for 6 months before I made my purchase in '01. Dodge was the lowest $$$ in the market, and the same for my '02.

I just checked on line for a price on each

Dodge 2500 4X4 loaded quad cab short bed

non HO auto, can't get the auto in MA

$43,215

GM 2500 Crew cab short loaded the same way.

$46,053

So if the HO was available as well as the new auto behing it the price would be alot closer. And the GM is a real crew cab.

This is sticker price for sticker price. I know deals can be had on both from the right dealers.

jd,

My roommate emailed Dave Smith Motors on Wednesday the 16th, and on the 17th got a phone call from a salesman.

Dodge 2500 4 door, SWB, SLT+, leather, HO, 48RE, most every option. $35,760.

Chevy, 2500 4 door, SWB, leather, all options, Duramaxipad, Allison. $38,800.

If any of you have dealt with Dave Smith, you know that you basically pay what they quote you when you're dealing with their fleet salesman. My Uncle bought a basically loaded (all buy leather) Duramaxipad about 3 months ago from them and got it for $35k, but he had a trade in that was basically brand new (3k miles) so they worked with him pretty well.

Why pay more for less?

You get what you pay for no matter how you look at it, why pay less for less?

The price you quoting is after all rebates and incentives, Dodge offers more because they are selling less and need to make up somewhere.

The price I quoted is from the manufacturers web site.

To each their own and screw everybody else, I guess, but you couldn't pay me to drive a maxipad after having my Cummins into the 400 RWHP range. Nothing but :D :D :-laf :-laf from me and #@$%! :{ #@$%! from my Uncle when his maxipad can't keep up. That also goes for a guy with a Juiced Duraslug.

All name calling done in fun and for sport... entices the animals to want to play. :) Teasing if you will.

We kept challenging each other as to who had the tougher truck. I figured around race season we would run together to a race and I would learn him a thing or two about inline 6's and long hills. His truck croaked at 50k and he got rid of it before his "lesson".

extra cabs on chevy and dodge are almost the same size. i have seen them measured out but the chevy tits... i mean frame are sagging out from under the truck. is this an extra option? oh thats what they mean by HD (hanging droopy)
