i dont know how many people really pull with there trucks but up here in no. cal (dairy land) we USE our trucks, i had a 99' with a auto (actually i had about 3 auto's in it) they were build with the towing valve body, they would go about 20,000 miles or so and thats it!!!! as you can see now i have a 00' (traded that stupid auto in) with a 6spd, hands downs better! i got 50,000 miles on it and still on the stock clutch, on the hills a stick and a jake break are a combo made in heaven, not to mention i put about 100 ft. lbs more to the ground. if your buying a truck to PULL the load a stick will always "walk the dog" on an auto (ever wonder y u cant get a H. O. with a auto?) just my experiance. buy the way a load around here is 20,000lbs goose neck packed with holstiens. :D :D :D

Give it an ISL and things will really be interesting?

Howard;

I've been considering the same swap myself. I estimate a total auto trany rebuild is going to be near the cost of purchasing a manual plus a premium clutch. If I towed most of the time, the answer would be hands down manual. Being most of my driving is not towing or hauling, the answer gets really fuzzy.
